Dwarven Dig
Description
Dwarven Dig! is the fast-paced, hard-hitting, cave-smashing game of dwarves on the hunt for treasure. With the wise, grit-generating elder, the savvy engineer, the hell-raising miner and the stout warrior, can you lead your team safely through the perils of the mountain to retrieve the treasure before your opponents do the same? Play defensively or go on the attack to directly thwart the other teams, and never play the same game twice due to the game board's tile construction system. Face the mountain if you dare!
Dwarven Dig! FAQ
Q: What happens if we’re out of tokens and need one to represent a Hermit or a Brilliant Plan?
A: This should not happen often, but when it does, please use something else to denote the token until a token is available.
Q: Regarding the new Crystal Caverns tiles which provide the Brilliant Idea tokens - what is the significance of the Hazard Skill check numbers on the tile?
A: This tile requires two tests—the skills check listed on the tile, plus a successful dig.
When you are in the tile during the Resolve Tile step, you want to pass the skill check. If you do not, then nothing happens. If you do, then you are qualified to try the next step to gain the Brilliant Plan token.
The next step will be the next time you get the opportunity to Dig. If you successfully Dig during the next Dig step following a successful Resolve Tile step, then you receive the Brilliant Plan token. If you do not Dig successfully, then you do not get the token, and you have to have a successful skill check in a Resolve Tile step before trying to Dig for the Brilliant Plan token again.
Failing the skill check does not prevent you from digging in the future—it just means that you will not get a Brilliant Plan token on that next Dig step.
Q: Can the player who wins the end of turn die roll elect to go Last?
I seem to remember that from the original rules, and, the reference cards perhaps suggest this, however, the rules do not state this.
A: This is a fine house rule, and it is how we plan in the office. We took this rule out in an attempt to keep things simple for players. You can, officially, use this rule in your home games, however.
Q: Can you spend Grit on the Escape roll after failing the Andesite Pit Roach Hazard Roll?
A: Nope. You may not spend Grit on the Andesite Pit Roach roll after a dwarf has been captured.
Q: In the rules, the first phase of the turn is called the Delve Phase, and on the reference card it’s called the Dig Phase. Which is correct?
A: The phase is called the Delve Phase. We changed it to avoid confusion in the rules, but we forgot to change it on the reference card. These things happen. Sorry for the confusion!
